Last week at NOWHERE BAR's Double-Headed Disco, another clip from this movie was playing in the "Red Room." Several of us were watching this sort of tripped-out dance number to a George Harrison tune as some twinky queen pushes past us tsk-ing "THAT'S not porn!" in a big huff. I had tried to put some fun stuff between the gaysex, and fortunately, that dude was in the minority - many others watched and enjoyed the selections. But it does point out something very real about porno films - most people have only ever watched them with a remote control in hand, fast-forward button under the thumb. So once these films were only for home consumption, the cool tidbits of non-sex gay stuff is barely ever seen, and rarely ever included anymore. Too bad. Anyhoo, all that is background to the fact that the above CLIP is the one I almost included, but figured since it was just a girl, a big naked girl, there might've been a whole lot more disappointed little twinky queens ...like I care... oops!

I love this film. Tom DeSimone did a fantastic job of doing a gay movie that just happened to have gaysex in it. Back in the early 70's, outside some arthouse Andy Warhol thing, you couldn't make a gay movie and have it shown; but you could make a porno movie that was gay and have it shown. What I like about this character, Sweet Lady Mary, is that she is not what she seems - a fag hag. Yes, her best buddy is a slim gay boy, and yes, she's a big big girl; but he's the one attracted to and fascinated by her; and he learns about life, and love, and sex, from her. This little "pre-music-video music video" is a great celebration of what some of us queers fight for - folks being who they are, liking who they are, feeling sexy about themselves, and doing their own thing.

About two weeks ago, coming home from a postal run to ship off a bunch of porn, I notice a piece of machinery outfront my building, and I get closer to inspect. Ahhh, an old VCR, on it's side. I get closer to examine in case it's BETA (I have about 5 BETA tapes I've never been able to view) but, alas, it's VHS. Phewwww! Found the Sylvester CD, so let the (Gay Pride) party begin! This is erlin's first film - I actually think THAT BOY (1974), which he also produced, directed and wrote, is much better - but this is still a great little film showing bits of San Francisco gay life back in 1972. The party with a handful of drag queens is great, and the best, sexually speaking, is the final scene, where Berlin watches two lovers go at it, and joins in.

One reason it takes me so long to do my eBay auctions is that I want to give as much detail as possible (not to mention then I have to edit out stuff eBay may not like), and that means I put a video aside thinking I'll get a chance to do more research. I am selling one called HARD DADDIES, and if it had the original packaging, you'd see hairy hunky 1970's star BRUNO sitting in a pick up truck with lovely and talented Shane. I wanted to figure out the original movie before selling, and it wasn't that hard - Brentwood's 1976 film, Bruno & Shane (also on HAYRIDE, FALCON FVP013). But then there's other 1970's cool footage, and fortunately I was able to recongize BERT EDWARDS. But which film?? I think I figured it out - my eBay description:"Bert Edwards in tight white jeans, and a mustached buddy in a hotel room. Very passionate oral and buttplay shows off both men's huge equipment well. Disco soundtrack. note: brief footage of skyline makes me think this could be BRENTWOOD - Matt Sterling's Erection Set." BLAH BLAH BLAH, you know i love this film, perhaps the one I've blogged most about over the years, given that most VHS versions are missing anywhere from 15-25 minutes from the original 1977 theatrical release. So, given that I am selling off another of these (mostly) uncut versions (see earlier February post with details about the film here), I was trying to find some footage that I haven't yet shown - and yet, the infamous so-called and mislabeled "incest" scene is still the one I get asked for most - the Dad & Son scene where Dad and Son don't actually do it - Dad just watches Son do it with red Halsted. But when Dad is the incredibly hot COLT model Mike Morris (is it true Mike never did any COLT movies, only photos???), I figured I should include the previous few minutes, in a rare (perhaps only) scene where we get to hear Mr. Morris talk. HEATSTROKE

Starring:Roy Garrett, Casey Donovan, Richard Locke, Clay Russell, Clinton Coe, Bud Wallace, John Steele, Richard West, and of course, The Gage Men.

My all-time favorite. From the black-and-white shots at the beginning, the excellent Man Parrish theme song, and especially the amazing scene with Casey Donovan lost in the woods (sucking off all these guys with the hottest voice-over on film - a guy suggesting all sorts of hot sex scenes, from whacking off as you pull up to a gas station attendant, to making it with "Dad"...) a thoroughly amazing film! Set in Montana, some ranch hands set about to make the most of their weekend - time at the local peep shows, an excellent scene where Richard Locke gets it on with his ex-girl's new military boyfriend, and a scene where a guy is refused admission to the local sex club cuz he's too old, so he grabs a fellow rejectee (a preppy wearing an Izod shirt) and does it 'round back! All narrated by Rory, the "tenderfoot" as foreman Richard Locke like to call him, played wonderfully by Roy Garrett.

no blogging today - busy working on auctions so I can take a weekend out of town with the BF - woo-hoo! BUT, I am gonna sell one of my copies of my favorite (PORNO) movie, Joe Gage's HEATSTROKE, and I just can't zip thru it and type out a few notes - i am thoroughly enjoying this film for like the 800th time! OH, btw, apparently this is currently OUT OF PRINT (OOP); never made it to DVD, and no one is selling the VHS anymore, it seems.

Marine Furlough

This clip is from a film called Marine Furlough, but I found it on a BIJOU VIDEO compilation called DICKS SO BIG, THEY'LL TICKLE YOUR HEART. As some of you know from my eBay auctions, I try to give as much detail and info as possible in the body of my auctions so sellers know what they are getting, or maybe even reminds them of when they may have seen the video in the past, especially with these older ones. BIJOU VIDEO didn't have a great description, but the loops on this tape seemed like they may have been BRENTWOOD, and one looked like GARY BOYD, so on that hunch, I checked Gay Erotic Video Index, and he had some great info, which I then used as I was composing the auction. But as I'm reviewing the tape, I realized that music had been added, clearly at a later date, and I remembered that TROPHY VIDEO, which put out a series with lots of BRENTWOOD LOOPS, often added disco or even new-wavish music (New ORder stands out) in the early 80's. So now I would love to know the background music for this clip before I put it up for auction - help if you can, thanks!
