God made me gay?
It's quite possible, but I realized this past Pride that I don't really care for this particular marketing strategy. I mean I get it - God did it, it's natural, it's okay, blah blah blah. And I guess for religious folks, it's some sort of counterattack on the anti-gay "religious" zealots. But it's sorta like "God did it, it's his fault" or "Don't blame me, God made me gay", which I don't really care for. Regardless of how one feels about god, and whether she/he/it exists and in what form, (I kinda think maybe there might be something "bigger", and yeah, I have prayed in my own way from time to time), I don't know that we should base our goals of respect, equality, and freedom on this premise. If we're wrong, and it wasn't god, but some sort of character development, or EGAD! an actual choice, then what? Less deserving of respect, freedom, and equality? I don't think so.
